Part 22


The sun was rising. Alex stretched his arms and smiled when his hand touched Elena’s cheek. Last night had been wonderful. He got out of bed and grabbed his boxer short. Alex looked around, trying to find his phone. While yawning, he picked it up from underneath Elena’s blouse and flipped it open. ‘You have three missed calls.’ Alex walked back to their bed and sat down on the edge. He looked at the numbers. Elena groaned and turned on her other side with a sigh. Alex pressed the call-button and heard how the phone rang. ‘Caroline speaking.’ Alex’ brows pulled together in a frowns. ‘Good morning Carol. You’d called me?’ He heard how she cleared her throat and looked at his alarm clock. 6:30. ‘Yes, I did. Alex, I’m sorry to tell you this, but Dorothy died.. Murdered..’ He couldn’t believe it. ‘Jacqueline found a shoe print which matches the one found outside Katelyn’s room. Alex, I’m afraid the guy who murdered Katelyn, took Dory’s life as well..’ he swallowed. ‘Thanks Carol. I’ll step by later this day.’ And he closed his phone. Tears rolled down his cheeks. Tony and Dorothy had been like parents for him and now they were dead. Almost everyone he loved was dead.. Elena came sitting behind him and swapped her arms around his chest. ‘Morning guapo. Did you sleep well?’ She pressed a kiss on his cheek. ‘Alex? Is everything al right?’ she asked worried. Alex shook his head. ‘Carol had tried to call me yesterday.. Dory’s found dead, Elle. Someone murdered her.’ His voice broke and more tears rolled down. Elena got out of bed and kneeled down in front of him. ‘I’m so sorry to hear that Alex..’ He moved to her side of the bed. Elena sat down next to him and pulled him closer. He rested his head on her lap. ‘I’m scared Elle.. I don’t want to lose you as well..’ Elena didn’t answer. Both knew the facts and the possibility she might be next..
