| Muy grande partio Part 11
Javi was looking next to him. Julie was still sleeping. It wasn’t weird that she was sleeping while he was awake. It was only 4 in the morning. He smiled. She looked so cute while she was sleeping. Her head rested on his chest and she had wrapped herself in the blanket, trying to find some kind of protection in it. He laid his arm around her and pulled her closer. She mumbled in her sleep, and her facial expression changed. Javi wondered where she was dreaming about. He sighed and looked at the window. Soon sunrise would begin. He could see the sky getting a lighter color, far in the distance. He sighed deeply and looked back at Julie. Now he noticed how her hair was darker then with David’s party. It was more copper now. He softly followed the line of her cheekbone. Her eyelids fluttered and he pulled his hand back, scared he had woke her up. He kept looking at her, seeing how she woke up. Sleepy she rubbed her eyes and yawned. ‘Morning..’ she mumbled and looked sleepy at him while she rubbed her eye. ‘Good morning.’ Javi said and smiled. Julie smiled as well. ‘Could you catch some sleep, Jules?’ She nodded and yawned. ‘I had only a dream about Mark.. I haven’t had dreams about him since his accident…’ she looked at the blanket. Javi sat up and pulled her closer. ‘That’s ok Jules.. I have dreams about Sophia as well, sometimes.’ He looked down at her. She sighed. ‘But.. The last dream was half a year ago. I don’t get it.. And besides, why would he only come after me now, while he’s gone for two years?’ Javi nodded. ‘I know what you mean. Maybe because he noticed something.. Something which had changed in a bad way for him.. he noticed how you began to fall in love with me, and he noticed how my feelings had changed as well. I am a thread for him, well.. was I think.’ He smiled. ‘But tell me: How was Mark? As a person I mean..’ Julie swallowed and began to talk. ‘He was a really friendly man, if he was home at least.. His work was his everything.. But we never had argues about it. Huh, that’s pretty rare.. I mean; how many marriages survive when the husband is gone all the time? Anyway, he said that once the war in Iraq would have cooled down, we would start a family.. Then he would be home, so I could work more than I did. I worked in the little florist shop, next to the Turkish restaurant. I’m sure you know it. But after Mark’s death I was so full of grieve, that I couldn’t get up normal without having the feeling my heart was being jerked out. It hurt a lot the first months, but they fired me.. When I slowly picked my social life back up, I began to follow a study journalism, and now I work for the biggest news channel in Spain. Mark was the one to convince me that a child, or maybe two, would bring some rest in our life. Eventually I agreed with his plan. But then, March 2006, I saw on the news how the Iraqi army bombed an aircraft, near Baghdad. I remember how I was watching with tears rolling over my cheeks. Not much later I got a text message from Ruben, one of Mark’s mates in Iraq, that it was Mark his plane who was crashing down in front of my eyes on the TV, and that he hadn’t made it. Ruben and I have spent many hours afterwards with crying and helping each other. But he had his own life, so we lost contact. The last thing I have heard from him is that he found out he was gay and got married with a guy after he broke up with his former girlfriend. Life sucks sometimes.. April that year Mark’s remains got back in Spain and he got the funeral he deserved. And in July I had closed the chapter of crying and feeling like I was the only person on this planet. Now you know everything..’ She looked up to him. Javi caressed her hair and kissed her cheek. She laid her hand against his cheek. ‘And how was your wife, Sophia?’ She asked him in return. Javi looked at the wall in front of him. ‘Sophia was a really sweet woman. Very optimistic, no matter what happened. She played cello in a string quartet, and practiced every Wednesday. Well, until her belly was too big to continue playing. We were expecting a baby, and when she got a car accident, the baby was six months old. I remember that when she told me, I was practicing with my band –I’ll tell later about them- and she just walked inside. We all stopped dancing and walked to the bench she was sitting on. Her face was just one big smile. She said ‘Javi, I have good and bad news. The bad news is that we will have less space at home coz the good news is that you will be a daddy.’ I stared at her and danced, sang, and yelled that I would become a dad. Sophia was just as happy as I was that time. The first time the baby kicked was a little miracle. She quickly grabbed my hand and I felt how the baby kicked. It was serious amazing to feel how the baby you would love and raise was giving signs it was really there.. I always asked her if she wasn’t too tired, or if she needed anything. I was worried that if she did just a thing too much, it would be bad for her and the baby.. We heard it would be a little girl, when I went with her for an ultrasound. Sophia had already picked a name: Jasmine if it was a girl, Daniel if it would be a boy. We had already painted the room, it was soft purple with white flowers on the southern wall. Sophia had drawn them. But one night she drove home after visiting her parents. She was still driving when I called her, and I heard the radio playing on the background: Savin’ me from Nickelback. Maybe a bit ironic because not much later I got a call from the hospital that she’d had a car accident, and I had to come there, pronto. One of my friends I was with that night, drove me to the hospital. The other friend came with us as well. Mikel and Basty, that are their names, have been there for me during the past months, years. Together we are in a band: D’Nash, I think you might have heard or music hehe.. the other member/friend, Ony, is the one who drove into my wife’s car.. He was drunk while driving after having an argue with his girlfriend. I was so angry at him that I yelled at him that I hated him, and ran out of his hospital room. That night was the worst night of my life… Everything at home reminded me of her, remembered me that I would never hear her voice again, taste her paella, smell the scent of her hair or perfume anymore.. It was too much to deal with. I was desperate.. Desperate to be with her so I grabbed a bottle of pills and a bottle of whiskey. Thank God Basty got worried and he and Mikel drove to my house. They have saved my life.. A few months later I could bury her.. The funeral was nice. Ony told us that although I had forgiven him his stupid mistake, he couldn’t. It was hard for him. He told us that he had gotten an offer from a musical producer, and he would play in it, if it was ok for us. We all said that it was ok, if it was ok for him, so he left. I still have contact via e-mail and phone with him weekly. Eventually I have closed the chapter of her death, thanks to you for a part. I realized there was more to live for, that it wasn’t over yet.. Sometimes your life starts with saying goodbye.’ He swallowed and looked back at Julie. ‘I was sitting on my doorstep, hung up the phone and it fell out of my hand. But I knew I had to do it and he wouldn’t understand. So hard to see myself without him. I felt a piece of my heart break. But when you’re standing at a cross road, there’s a choice you’ve gotta make. I guess it’s gonna have to hurt, I guess I’m gonna have to cry and let go of some things I loved to get to the other side. I guess it’s gonna break me down, like falling when you try to fly. It’s sad but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life, starts with goodbye..’ Julie sang softly and kissed his cheek. Javi smiled and kissed her back. ‘Come, shall we get dressed and clean up that giant mess in the livingroom?’ His voice was happy again, and Julie noticed a twinkle in his eyes. She smiled as well. ‘First breakfast.’ She agreed. Both got out of bed and got dressed, ready to clean up.

| Part 12
The sun was shining, and Javi walked back home. Together with Julie he had cleaned up her livingroom. He had to remember to buy her a new vase and flowers. He felt happy and relieved. Finally he had told her how he felt, and she felt the same about him. It felt like living in a dream, but it was reality. Sooner than he’d expected he arrived home. ‘Time for a shower.. I have more dust than a broom..’ He chuckled and unlocked the door. Quickly he ran upstairs to take a shower. He turned the bathroom radio on and switched the shower on.
Javi had just put the shampoo in his hair when the doorbell rang. ‘God darnit!’ He turned the water off and grabbed a towel. Quickly he ran downstairs and opened the door. ‘Heya mate!’ Ony stood in front of him, smiling from ear to ear. ‘Ony!’ Javi smiled and opened the door further for his best friend. ‘Sorry for interrupting your shower..’ Ony chuckled and walked inside. Javi rubbed the shampoo out of his eye. ‘Ish ok.. If you wait here, I’ll get this stuff out of my hair and eyes.. Ouch..’ Ony smiled and sat down on a chair. ‘Make yourself at home..’ and Javi walked back upstairs. Ony looked around. The photo of him and Javi as teenagers was still standing in the bookcase, just as the photo from Javi’s wedding with Sophia. A sad smile appeared when Ony remembered Sophia and he walked towards the photo. She was always so cheery, no matter what happened. Her blue eyes always shined and sparkled, especially when Javi was around. How proud they were on the fact Javi would become father.. He shook his head compassionate. The girl would have been about two and a half now, maybe even three. He imagined how she would look like: Black hair, blue eyes, Sophia’s smile.. She would have been adorable... He let his eyes wander around the room, looking for more photos. He saw a bright light green photo frame standing on a small table next to the couch. There he saw a photo of D’Nash as well, taken on their last vacation together to Sicily. ‘Maybe good for us, now we can see other cultures..’ Basty had said. Ony grinned and looked back at the green frame. He saw Javi together with a woman. She had red curly hair, and brown eyes. Both were smiling. ‘Guess you found a new girl..’ Ony whispered and smiled. He walked into the kitchen and took something to drink. Not much later Javi was back downstairs, fully dressed this time. ‘Want something to drink Javi?’ ‘Err.. Sure. Juice.’ And he sat down on the couch. ‘Who’s that woman? She looks familiar at some point, but I can’t lay my finger on it..’ ‘That’s Julie Lopez, I met her at David’s birthday party. She helped me to get my life back on the rails. Yesterday I dared to tell her how much I love her, and we’re together now..’ ‘Aww… Little Javi is in love..’ Ony said and smiled wide. Javi threw a pillow to him, but he couldn’t hide his own smile. ‘But now I know where I remember her from.. She interviewed me about the musical ‘A’.. She’s really kind. I hope you two will become very happy.’ ‘I hope the same Ony, I hope the same..’ He smiled and drank his juice. ‘How are Basty and Mikel?’ ‘I don’t know.. They were fine yesterday, but I had to leave in a hurry.. Shall we meet them?’ Ony nodded and Javi grabbed the phone and dialed Basty’s number. ‘Hello..?’ Javi chuckled when he heard the sleepy voice from his friend. ‘Good morning!’ Basty groaned and he heard how he fell back on the pillow. ‘Had a rough night mate?’ ‘Just shut up..’ ‘Ok.. But hey.. Guess who was standing at my door this morning..’ ‘It’s to early to guess Álvarez!’ Ony laughed. ‘Wait.. Is that who I think it is?’ Javi pressed on the button for speaker function. ‘Yup, it’s me dude. Martos, Antonio Martos.’ ‘I bet you drink your martini stirred, not shaken.. haha! Good to hear you mate.’ ‘I agree Basty. It’s too long ago..’ ‘Okay, I have an idea.. Why don’t we meet at the pool? It’s warm and I wanna swim.’ Javi suggested. ‘Sure.. You call Mikel!’ Basty laughed. ‘Nice, thank you very much dick-head. You know he’s spending time with his girl, and I tell you one thing; what ever they do, it eint sleeping..’ Ony laughed and nearly fell of his chair. ‘Ony is laughing his ass off…’ Javi said and rolled his eyes. ‘I can hear..’ Basty laughed as well. ‘Well, I think that I’m gonna hang up now. See you at the pool around 2?’ ‘Yup.. If, IF, I survive calling Mikel..’ Basty laughed again. ‘You will, don’t worry. See you then. Bye Ony!’ ‘Ciao mate!’ and Javi hung up. Ony sat back down on the chair and took a deep breath. ‘Good.. Now Mikel..’ Javi sighed and called his friend. ‘Let it be voice mail, please let it be his voice- o hey Mikel!’ ‘Morning Javi.. What’s up?’ ‘Ony came to visit, and now was my idea to meet at the pool today, around 2.’ ‘Sure, I’ll be there.’ ‘Cool. See you later mate.’ ‘Yup. Bye Ony!’ ‘Bye Mikifú!’ ‘I’ll get you when we’re in the pool Martos. You, me, water fight! Ha!’ Ony laughed and Javi hung up. ‘Haha, now he will kill you instead of me.’ Ony stuck his tongue out. ‘Come, let’s buy me a swimming trunk and some lunch, if we’re in the city anyway.’ Javi nodded and they got up. He grabbed his car keys and they walked to his car. ‘Since when do you have a Chevy Impala? I thought you drove in a Peugeot 207?’ ‘Yes, I did.. Until Mikel rented it coz his BMW was broken, and hit a tree.. So I bought this one second hand. It’s even better than the 207.’ Ony laughed. ‘Mikel is serious blonde every now and then.’ Javi rolled his eyes and unlocked the car. The two friends got into it, and the engine roared to life. Soon they took off.

Part 13
The two friends were sitting in a small café, not far away from Plaza Mayor. It wasn’t exactly a busy place, but it was busy enough to keep it running. Ony was chewing on a piece of cucumber. ‘How are things with the band?’ Javi swallowed his coffee. ‘Fine. It’s quite calm now.. No concerts.. Gives us time to think about a third album..’ Both enjoyed of their lunch. ‘Who will pay?’ Javi shrugged. ‘If you wanna pay, you pay. If not, I will.’ He smiled. ‘Good, I’ll pay. Only because you didn’t ate much, and coz we haven’t seen each other quite some time.’ He poked between Javi’s ribs. ‘Ouch.. You must stop poking me, you know.’ Ony grinned and took his wallet. ‘Table 12.’ He handed the waitress her money and they left. Together they walked in the direction of Plaza Mayor. Both men had their hands in their pockets, and wore sunglasses. ‘You know.. I feel like a stud..’ Javi said and looked at Ony, who looked back. Both began to laugh. ‘I feel more like a robot with these glasses..’ ‘Who buys glasses if they look more like they’re made of metal instead of glass..?’ ‘I do?’ Ony grinned. Javi slapped against his forehead. ‘Incredible blonde..’ He sighed. ‘No; incredible hulk.’ Ony smiled proud. Javi laughed. Both walked into a clothes shop. ‘Ew.. Only career-people clothes..’ Javi shivered. Ony giggled. ‘I like to look at suits, you never now when it’s useful.’ ‘Do I know you?’ Javi said and looked weirdly at his best friend. ‘Yes, I’m Ony Martos Ortiz. We have been best friends since I don’t know when.’ Ony grinned and hang the shirt he was holding back. Javi rolled his eyes. ‘Weirdo..’ ‘Aww.. I love you too..’ Javi made a face, and they left. They walked into a few other shops before they went to buy Ony a new swimming trunk. It was already one thirty and they walked back to Javi’s car. ‘I need to grab my stuff.’ Javi said and drove back to his house. Not much later he threw his bag on the back seat and they left to the pool. Basty and Mikel were already waiting in front of the entrance. They began to smile when they saw their friends. ‘Heya guys! Good to see you!’ Ony said and smiled back. ‘I agree Ony, it’s good to see you again.’ Mikel patted his shoulder. They walked inside and got dressed. Ony was first. He ran to the pool and jumped into the water. Not much later Mikel followed his example. ‘I promised something..’ Mikel said and grinned cheeky. ‘Yup. WATER FIGHT!’ Both laughed and the water fight was started. Basty and Javi walked also out of the dressing cabins. ‘Yeah.. Very mature boys.’ Basty said and shook his head. Ony and Mikel turned their face to him. ‘1, 2, 3.. ATTACK BASTY!’ Mikel yelled. Quickly they got out of the pool and ran to Basty. ‘Good luck pal.’ Javi said and smirked. He walked towards one of the chairs and sat down. He watched how Ony and Mikel lifted Basty up and threw him into the water. ‘Hahaha!’ Javi was laughing. Basty got out of the water and walked to Javi. ‘Making fun of me huh? You’ll regret it mate.’ He smirked devilish and lifted Javi up and laid him over his shoulder. ‘Put me down Piñero!’ Javi hit against Basty’s back, but he just laughed. Soon Javi flew threw the air, and fell into the pool. He swam to the surface and spit the water out. ‘Thank you very much Easter egg..’ Javi swam to the edge of the pool and climbed out of it. ‘You’re very welcome.’ Basty smiled. Javi smiled as well and pushed him back into the water. Basty was bright enough to pull Javi along, and together they fell into the water. ‘And they call us childish?’ ‘Yeah! We were just having a water fight, this is more immature..’ Mikel rolled his eyes. ‘Come, let’s try the slide.’ Ony said, and both ran towards the big, yellow slide. Basty and Javi came back to the surface and laughed. They climbed out, and sat down on the chairs. ‘Ony and Mikel disappeared to the slide.’ Basty said. ‘Mweh, lil kids..’ Both chuckled. ‘We must meet Ony more often. It’s fun.’ Basty said. ‘I agree. To be honest, it’s not the same without him.. I miss him often.’ ‘Me too..’ Both sighed. ‘But,’ Basty continued, ‘when we meet him again, it’s like nothing has changed.’ Javi nodded. They laid down and were quiet for a while. Both had their eyes closed and enjoyed of the sun. Basty turned his head and opened one eye. ‘But tell me, how did it end with Julie?’ ‘Fine.’ Javi smiled. ‘Does that smile means that you finally found your guts and told her?’ ‘Yup. And you know, the best part is that she loves me too..’ ‘Aww.. Javichu is in love!’ Javi stuck his tongue out. ‘Anyway; we’re together now, sort of..’ ‘You must introduce her to us, someday.’ Javi nodded and smiled. Basty turned back, and again it was quiet.
Part 14
Later that week Javi invited Basty and Mikel for dinner. Julie would come as well. Javi was having dreams again. Not about Sophia this time, but about Julie. He dreamed about their wedding, about he and Julie playing with their children.. He hoped they would come true. Julie was everything for him. He sighed and pulled the wire out of the socket. The livingroom was clean now. Javi looked at his watch. He had at least half an hour before they would come. He putted a CD in the radio and began cooking. He knew how much Julie liked pizza, so he decided to make pizza. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Javi putted the knife down and walked to the door. ‘Hey handsome.’ Julie stood in front of him, dressed in a skinny jeans and a dark red blouse. She wore high heeled shoes, so she was just as tall as him now. Her eyes twinkled as always. ‘Hey babe, come inside.’ She got inside and kissed him. Javi kissed her back and closed the door. They walked into the livingroom, and Javi walked back to the kitchen. ‘What are we eating?’ ‘That’s a surprise.’ Javi said and smiled. ‘Aww.. You’re mean..’ Julie came standing behind him and laid her arms around his waist, and rested her head on his shoulder. ‘Mmm.. I think I can guess our own desert..’ She kissed his neck. Javi laughed. ‘Maybe we will do what you have on your mind amor…’ Javi finished the pizzas and placed them in the oven. ‘Oh! You’re making pizza! How sweet!’ Javi smiled and kissed her. She answered the same. Together they sat down on the couch. ‘Do you want something to drink sweety?’ ‘Yes.. Cola. Alcohol will come later tonight haha.’ Javi smiled and got up. Soon he was back with two glasses. They were chatting about the weather, work and so on when the doorbell rang, together with the bell of the oven. ‘I’ll get the pizzas. You go and welcome your guests.’ She winked and walked into the kitchen. Javi got up and went to open the door. ‘Boo!’ Mikel jumped up behind a tree. Basty slapped against his forehead. ‘This will be one heck of a night.. Mikel is hyper. I told him so not to drink so much coffee, but mister didn’t listen, like always..’ Javi smiled. ‘Nice to see you too mate. Come on in. You’re the last ones, Julie is already here.’ His friends walked inside and Javi closed the door. Julie just putted the last pizza down on the draining board. She turned around. Javi walked to her. ‘Julie, this are Basty and Mikel. Guys, this is Julie.’ She walked to them. ‘Nice to finally meet you. Javi told a lot about you.’ She smiled and shook their hands. The guys smiled. ‘Nice to meet you too Julie, Javi couldn’t stop drooling about you.’ Mikel said and hid behind Basty. ‘Hennet! Behave, ok?’ Basty said. Julie giggled. ‘Come, let’s have dinner before Mikel begins to turn into a monkey.’ Javi said. ‘Aww.. that was mean Javichu..’ Mikel pouted his lower lip. Javi sighed, Basty and Julie laughed and they sat down. ‘Are you always that crazy?’ Julie asked Mikel. This time Javi laughed. Basty turned his face away to hide his smile. ‘Ehmm.. Well.. I can be serious, if I want.’ He rubbed his hair. ‘See, that’s the point.. He never wants to be serious.’ Javi said and dug for a flying pizza slice. ‘You’ll clean that up Mikel.’ Javi said, not hiding the amusement in his voice. His eyes were sparkling. Mikel stuck his tongue out. ‘Aww, they are so cute when they act like this.. I think I’m gonna buy a big piece of wallpaper and stick you two behind it!’ Basty said sarcastic. ‘Sorry dad, we’ll behave dad..’ Julie shook her head. ‘You are incredible, serious..’ Javi and Mikel smiled proud. Basty shook his head and sipped from his beer. ‘Why don’t you tell us something about yourself?’ Mikel suggested and took his own bottle of beer. Julie swallowed her wine. ‘Sure, why not? Well, my name is Julie Lopez, and I’m 25 years old. I was born in Alcalá de Henares, there I did my full study as well. First I worked in a florist shop, but after a few years I followed a study to become a journalist. That was when I already lived in Madrid, with my deceased husband.. Just like Javi, I lost him in an accident. But that has been several years ago. Now I have Javi..’ She took his hand and looked at him. Javi smiled and caressed her hand. Mikel and Basty both smiled. ‘And you met at David’s party, right?’ Basty asked. Javi and Julie both nodded. ‘First it was just a sexual relationship/friendship.. But well, after a few months I began to.. love him. And I noticed something had changed between us.. When we were together, it wasn’t just to forget, to feel loved again.. Something changed in his kisses.. Our kisses. They were filled with love, and passion. Like.. Like we didn’t want to feel loved by someone, but loved each other..’ Javi nodded: ‘And remember that call I got? Julie was hysterical. Something had happened and it was then that I finally dared to speak those words out loud; I love you.’ He smiled. ‘Let’s hope you two become very happy together.’ Basty said. ‘You know Basty, sometimes you really sound like my dad.’ Mikel said. Basty turned his face to him. ‘I think we better get the desert. Will you help me Jules?’ Javi said and pulled her up. ‘Yes, good idea Javichu. Let’s get it.’ They went outside to the shed. Javi opened the door and they went inside. Julie smiled, closed the door a bit and kissed him. Javi kissed eagerly back. ‘Mmm.. Julie.. This isn’t mm.. A really good moment to.. to kiss.. We have guests..’ Julie smiled. ‘I know.. Let’s get the ice-cream and make them shut up with bickering for a while.’ She opened the large freezer and took the bucket of ice-cream out of it. ‘Mmm.. Watermelon, jummy..’ She closed it and they walked back inside. Basty and Mikel were just normal talking this time. Javi went to get some bowls and soon everyone was enjoying in silence.
Several hours later, Mikel and Basty left. Javi and Julie were sitting on the sofa, both with a glass of wine. The radio played softly some romantic music. They didn’t said a word, their company was enough. Javi sang softly along with the song, followed by Julie. Not much later the song was finished and he kissed her. Julie kissed him back and they putted their glasses down. That night they spent partly on Javi’s couch.

Part 15
‘Javi! I need to see you, can I come over now?’ Javi smiled and putted the magazine down. ‘Sure Jules. See you in a bit then.’ Julie said bye and hung up. Javi shook his head and turned the page. Soon Julie walked inside via the back door. She threw her bag on a chair and jumped onto the couch next to him. She kissed him and smiled. ‘I have amazing news!’ ‘Can you wait? My tea is ready. Do you want some too?’ ‘Sure.’ Javi got up and made tea for both of them. Soon he came back. ‘Tell me, why did you need to see me?’ Javi asked while he gave her the cup. ‘Sit down, it’s amazing news.’ Julie said. Her eyes were twinkling. ‘Don’t tell me that you saw a flying dog.’ Javi said. ‘A what? No! Silly!’ She giggled and Javi sipped from his tea. ‘I got promotion. Instead of interviewing artists and musical stars, I’m going to make reports about crimes, crimes like 9/11. Isn’t that great!’ She sipped from her tea. ‘I’m going to Columbia next week to write about the drug-war there.’ Javi nearly choked in his tea. ‘What?!’ He stared at her. ‘I’m going to Columbia next week.’ ‘No.’ This time Julie stared at him. ‘No? Why not?’ ‘I am not letting you go to Columbia to write about sinister things, and meet all sorts of criminals!’ Julie snorted: ‘Since when are you my dad Javi? Since when do you tell me what I should and shouldn’t do?’ ‘Since I care about you! I don’t want to bury again someone I love!’ ‘I can take pretty good care of myself Javier! I don’t need your advise! I am 25 for crying out loud!’ ‘I know that Julie! But still you are NOT going to Columbia!’ Julie sprang up from the couch, causing the tea spilling over the edge of her cup. ‘I will decide myself what I will and won’t do! For God’s sake Javi! I eint a baby!’ ‘So you say I treat you as a BABY?!’ Javi got up as well. ‘Did you hear me saying that then?!’ ‘No, but you meant that didn’t you?’ Both were yelling now. ‘I am still going to Columbia! If you like it or not!’ She crossed her arms. ‘Fine Julie! But don’t call me when you’re in trouble there! I tried to warn you!’ ‘Fine! I won’t!’ She turned around and left. Javi stared after her. The two cups were standing on the table. Did they just had a fight? He didn’t had much time to think about it. The phone rang, and at the same time a thunder storm began. He picked up the phone. ‘Yes? O hey Basty. Yes, I will be there tomorrow. No problem. Ok, I have to go now. The thunder is getting closer. Bye.’ He laid the phone down and sat down. The backdoor was still open, and a few raindrops escaped inside, like they were hiding for the rain. Quickly he shut the door and got up. He ran upstairs. The thunder was pretty close now. Javi laid down on his bed and stared out of the window. The thunder faded, and he turned the radio on. He didn’t want to go back downstairs.. ‘You’re here, there’s nothing I fear, And I know that my heart will go on We’ll stay forever this way You are safe in my heart And my heart will go on and on..’
Julie was laying on her bed. Her eyes were red from crying, and a pillow was pressed against her belly. The radio just finished playing a song from Celine Dion. ‘That was Celine Dion with “My heart will go on”, requested by Carol for Tomas. I hope you liked it Tomas! And we have a new caller! Hello?’ Julie couldn’t care less who requested the new song. She turned around, and pulled her knees up. It was still raining. It seemed like the weather knew perfectly how she felt. The minute she walked angry out of the door, it began thundering and raining. Her wet clothes were laying in a corner of her bedroom, and she wore an old sweater and the pants of her pyjamas. ‘Hey Juan. I wanted to ask you to play Nobody wants to be lonely, by Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera..’ Julie turned back and stared at the radio.
‘My girlfriend and I had a fight, and I don’t know how to make it up with her..’ Javi was sitting on his bed now, hearing his own voice through the radio. ‘Julie, this song’s for you.’ And he hung up. ‘Specially for Julie, from Javi: “Nobody wants to be lonely”.’ The song began. Javi sighed. All he could do was hoping she would listen as well.
Julie stared at the radio like it was some sort of alien. He asked to play one of her favorite songs if she felt down… Again tears rolled over her cheeks. ‘Nobody wants to be lonely Nobody wants to cry My body’s longing to hold you So bad it hurts inside Time is precious and it’s slipping away And I’ve been waiting for you all of my life Nobody wants to be lonely so why Why don’t you let me love you..’ She loved him so much.. Why wouldn’t he let her go? It was her dream to write about that, to become more important.. How she missed him, already. ‘That was Christina Aguilera ft. Ricky Martin with “Nobody wants to be lonely” requested by Javi, for Julie. I hoped you liked it girl.’ Julie grabbed her mobile and sent a text message. She knew what she had to do now.
Javi was still sitting on his bed. How could he have been so stupid? She wanted to go to Columbia, he could see it in her eyes, and he just said ‘no’. ‘But.. I don’t want to lose her as well.. She’s everything to me.. Everything..’ A lonely tear rolled over his cheek. ‘And we got a text message. You can also text. For the ones who don’t know the number: Call to 0900-3696, or text to 3696. “Dear Juan, my boyfriend and I had a fight-..” Is everyone fighting these days? Tut tut tut.. “And I feel bad about it.. Could you play “Without you” by Mariah Carey? It’s his fave artist. Specially for Javi, from Julie. Kisses.” Seems that your song hit the right place Javi! Ok, here we go! “Without you” for Javi, from Julie.’ Javi stared at the radio. ‘She heard my song..’ A smile appeared on his face, and he heard the first stanza. During the first chorus his phone rang. On the back ground he heard the echo of his own radio. ‘Julie? Oh, babe I’m so sorry.. So sorry..’
She couldn’t speak, she just wanted to hear Javi’s voice. ‘I love you so much Julie, so much.. you’re my everything..’ Mariah Carey was singing on the background. ‘I can’t live If living is without you I can’t give I can’t give it anymore.’ ‘Please Jules, can I come to you? I need to see you..’ Julie swallowed. ‘Yes Javi, please, come here.. I need you, I love you..’ They hung up and not much later the doorbell rang. She went to open. Javi stood in front of her, wet from the rain. He opened the door further and kissed her, full on her lips. She kissed him back and Javi shut the door. ‘We must take your clothes off before you get ill.’ She unbuttoned his shirt and threw it on the floor. They walked to the stairway. Javi lifted her up ad carried her upstairs, into her bedroom. There they got rid of all the other clothes. ‘I love you so much Julie, and if you want, you can go to Columbia, even to New Zealand, if it makes you happy.’ He smiled and pulled the blanket over them.

| You can send too here any time you want and ask for a song but mostly you will hear them say "Oh... we put that on the previous show" or "Could you ask it later? I just put another song of that artist" it's annoying!!! | |

Javi sighed and attacked the potato lying on his plate. ‘Hey! I boiled them with love, and that gives you no right to attack it!’ Mikel said, squinted his eyes, and pointed with his fork at Javi. ‘Mikel, calm down.. Can’t you see that something’s bothering him?’ Basty said. ‘Nah.. I’m ok.. I just miss Julie..’ Javi said, and leaned his head onto his hand. Basty half-smiled. ‘Where is she?’ Javi brought a fork full food to his mouth, and paused to answer. ‘Paris..’ and he began to chew. ‘That’s not far away.. Compared to Columbia.. Why don’t you go and visit her?’ Javi shrugged his left shoulder. ‘Javi, get real. How long are you together?’ Basty answered. ‘Two years.’ Javi answered. ‘And how long are you living together?’ Basty continued. ‘One year..’ Javi said. ‘I don’t wanna play your dad Javi, but I think you should ask her to marry you.’ Mikel said. Javi spit his water out and stared at him. ‘I agree with Mikel. Javi, Sophia is gone. It’s time to begin a new family. A family with Julie. She’s a nice lady, really. Since you’re seeing her, you’re the Javi again I met; Happy.’ Basty said and looked at his friend. Javi looked from one to the other, and back. He sighed and lowered his eyes. ‘Maybe.. maybe you two are right.. I keep on dreaming about our wedding, about Julie being pregnant, about us playing with the children..’ Basty and Mikel smiled. ‘Good. Tomorrow you’ll pack your stuff, and go to Paris. You buy a ring, go with Julie to the Eiffel-tower, and ask her to marry you. Naww.. Winter in Paris; romantic.’ Mikel said. ‘Mikel Hennet, you’re the weirdest person I know, but for a weird-o you’re pretty damn clever.’ Basty said. ‘Thank you pineapple-head, I’m proud on it.’ He grinned. ‘Dork..’ Javi mumbled. ‘Aww.. But I’m your dork, and you love me. Admit it..’ Mikel said and looked at his friend, using his puppy-eyes. Javi laughed. ‘Ok, ok.. Yes, I do.’ Javi said, with a smile. Basty laughed, and they all ate their dinner.
Javi shivered. It was 7 in the morning, and cold. Mikel had driven him to the airport. All he had was a ticket to Paris, a reservation in a hotel for two nights and a suitcase. ‘Well, bon voyage mate. Say hi to Julie from us. Basty and I will pick you up here when you’re back.’ Mikel said. Javi inhaled deep, nodded, and walked into the gate where his plane would stand. Soon he would be in Paris. That thought made him smile. Not much later he was sitting inside the plane. A steward walked past him, pushing a cart with coffee and tea. Grateful Javi accepted a cup of coffee. Deep in his own world, he sipped from it. After a bit of waiting, the plane was ready to leave. Javi looked out of the window. ‘The sky was heavenly blue, and the world had a bit of white underneath him. Soon he would be with the woman he loved. The ring burned in his pocket. He laid his hand on it. A golden ring, with a tiny stone in it. ‘Gotta love tax free shops on an airport..’ He mumbled. An old man sat down next to him. He wore a black suit, and a pair of glasses stood on his nose. Javi turned around. ‘Good morning.’ The man said, and smiled. His gray eyes twinkled. ‘Morning.’ Javi said, and smiled as well. ‘Where are you going to if I may ask?’ the man asked. ‘Paris. My girlfriend is having a girl’s vacation with her friends there, and my friends practically kicked me into this plane..’ He smiled goofy, and rubbed his hair. The man laughed. ‘Why did they kicked you in here? If I were you, I’d run into this plane to visit her!’ The man said, with a slight tone of humor in his voice. ‘Yeah.. Good point.. Well, I do want to see her, I really miss her. They more kinda made me go there to propose her.’ Javi said, and played with the stir in his coffee. ‘Ah, I see.. That’s always tricky, isn’t it? I remember when I asked my wife to marry me. I was nervous as hell. She said yes, otherwise I wouldn’t be married with her for 40 years.’ He smiled. Javi nodded. ‘Yup, yup.. I’m pretty damn nervous.. And I’m not even there yet!’ the man laughed again. ‘Don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll say yes. How long do you know her?’ Javi rubbed his neck. ‘Ehmm.. About three, three and a half years now I think. We’re together for two now.’ He drank the last bit of coffee. ‘Ah, then it’s about time to ask her! You see, women don’t come flying into your arms. You must work.’ The man laid his hand on Javi’s shoulder. ‘I noticed yeah.. My wife past away years ago. It’s thanks to my girlfriend I began to pick up my old life again.’ He looked up to the man next to him. ‘I’m sorry to hear that, but it’s good that you found love again.’ The man smiled, and Javi nodded in agreement. ‘Where are you going to sir?’ The man took his own cup of coffee. ‘I’m going to Amsterdam for business. And please, call me Alejandro.’ Javi took the hand Alejandro stuck out to him. ‘Nice to meet you, I’m Javi.’ Both men smiled. During the short flight to Paris, they chatted about everything. ‘So you’re in a band?’ Javi nodded. ‘Together with two of my best friends. We represented Spain during the ESC in 2007.’ The man nodded once. ‘Impressive.. I think I’ve seen the final with my wife back then. She always wants to watch it haha. I’ll tell her that I met one of the finalists from 2007.’ Javi laughed. ‘Wait, can I have that napkin? Thanks. What’s your wife’s name?’ Javi asked while searching for a pen. ‘Mireya.’ Javi nodded, and began to write something on the napkin. ‘There. My autograph for your wife. I hope she’ll like it.’ He smiled, and gave the napkin back. ‘Thank you, I’m sure she will.’ Alejandro smiled. Soon the plane began to go down. It didn’t took long before everyone left it. ‘Good luck Javi. I’m sure she will say yes. You seem a nice man.’ Alejandro said while they shook hands again. ‘Thank you Alejandro. You too in Amsterdam.’ Both smiled, and went their own way. Javi went to pick up his suitcase. ‘Good, now get a cab to the hotel..’ he sighed, and walked out of the airport, into a Paris hidden under the snow.

After 15 minutes, Javi could hold a cab. ‘Je ne parle pas le Français..’ Javi said, and looked a bit lost. ‘No problemo. Español?’ The cabdriver smiled, and with a relieved sigh, and a slight nod Javi got in. He gave the address of the hotel. Not much later Javi was standing in the reception of a hotel. A black haired woman was waiting to help. ‘Holy crap, here we go..’ He muttered and walked towards her. ‘How can I help you sir?’ She asked in English with a strong accent. ‘I have a reservation.. Javi Álvarez.’ The lady typed some on the keyboard and looked back at him. ‘Welcome sir. Here is your key, room 304. Enjoy your stay.’ She smiled friendly and handed him the key. Javi thanked her, grabbed his suitcase and walked to the elevator. The doors slid open, and he got in. After a couple of minutes and an annoying tune, he arrived at the third floor. Quickly he unlocked the door of his hotel room, and got in. While shutting the door, he threw his suitcase on the bed. He got the ring out of his pocket and laid it on the night stand. He stripped down till his boxer short, and walked into the bathroom. ‘Shower and some sleep.. I hate flying, and jet lags.’ He took a quick shower and walked back into the bedroom. He felt a bit better now. Javi sat down on a chair, and grabbed his phone. ‘Hey Mikel. I arrived safely. No, I just had a shower.. No, Javi’s gonna sleep. I got up at 5AM Hennet, I’m tired. Yeah thanks. Say hi to Basty. Yup, see you soon.’ And they ended. He laid his clothes on a chair, closed the curtains, and crashed down on the double bed. Within seconds he was snoring like a tiger.
‘Beep beep! Beep beep!’ Javi groaned and turned around. He rubbed his eyes, and yawned. Quickly he shot a glance at the alarm clock. 16:00. His stomach was growling, and he got out of bed. ‘Time for some food down town.. I don’t think they still have the lunch buffet open here..’ He chuckled, and got dressed. He grabbed his jacket, and left the hotel room. He walked slowly down the street, looking around him. All the people seemed to be in a rush, trying to get away from the cold and the snow. Javi smiled and shook his head. Soon he arrived at a little café. He walked inside, and sat down at an empty table in the eastern corner. Soon a waiter came to take his order, and five minutes later his baguette arrived. While looking at the people rushing in and out the café. He couldn’t understand why everyone was in such a hurry. The weather was beautiful; the sky was heavenly blue, the air was pure and cold, the streets neatly white from the fresh snow. He sipped from his coffee and thought deeply about how to ask Julie. He knew where she was staying. Her hotel was down the street. A frown appeared on his face. He could leave a message at the reception for her, to meet him somewhere, later that day.. But where? A waitress woke him up from his thoughts. ‘More coffee monsieur?’ he nodded, and she poured some coffee in his cup. ‘Can I ask you something?’ He asked her and looked up. Her blue eyes looked curious, and she nodded. ‘If you were me, where would you take your girlfriend to, to propose her? I mean, everyone uses the Eiffel tower..’ He rolled his eyes. The woman laughed gentle. ‘Maybe you could take her to the graveyard sir. I know it sounds weird, maybe even macabre, but there’s a grave from the son of a landlord and his lover. The story goes that he committed suicide after the landlord found out about the relation, and hired someone to kill the woman. Just around sunset it’s beautiful there, even romantic. It’s quiet, and peaceful.’ Javi nodded: ‘Ok. If you can give a description how to get there.. I’m not from here.. Never been here before as well..’ He rubbed the nape of his neck. The woman laughed again. ‘Of course sir.’ She took a piece of paper from her note block, and wrote down how he could get there. ‘Good luck monsieur.’ She smiled, and walked away. Javi drank the last bit of his coffee and got up. He paid for his lunch, and walked out of the café, into the direction of the hotel Julie was staying. A man was sitting behind the desk. His brown hair was slowly turning gray at his temples. ‘How can I help you sir?’ Javi took his gloves of. ‘Could you deliver a message for me to one of your guests?’ ‘Of course sir. To who?’ The man took a pen and a piece of paper. ‘Julie Lopez. I don’t know in which room she’s staying..’ He took the pen and wrote a message for her on the paper. ‘Dear Julie. Meet me at Cimetière du Père Lachaise at Ile de France, around 5. I need to see you. Lots of love, Javi.’ He laid the pen down, and folded the note in half. He shove both back to the man. ‘I’ll make sure she’ll get it sir.’ The man said and got up. Javi nodded, putted his gloves back on, and walked out of the hotel. He had 40 minutes left before Julie would meet him at the cemetery. Quickly he walked into a florist shop. Daffodils were hard to get in December, but roses must be possible. He smiled and bought two red ones. ‘Mikel can be proud on me; a ring and roses..’ he smiled and shook his head. Javi walked back out of the florist shop, and began to make his way down to the cemetery.
